A Monologue Topic: We do not live by fate It is our destiny to be right here and right now, it is written among the stars that our paths should cross. It is destined that you’d be late for class and send your teacher fuming mad for your lack of homework. It does not matter that you were awake up to two dock this morning chatting with your FEB. friends. Everything is destiny. Try telling that to a battered wife, “You are destined for this abusive husband”. Or to a person dying of cancer’ “You are meant to suffer that much”.
Filipinos are a fatalistic lot. “Ball an nag Dolls”, we’d easily quip when face with a difficult situation, casting everything Into God’s hands. I want to send my kids to school but I do not have a good job, “Ball an nag Adios”. I want to graduate with honors but I’m too busy with my “social life” to study, “Ball an nag Adios”. I really like this girl but I’m too shy to let her know, “Ball an nag Adios”, If we are really meant to be. Then you’d kick yourself when you see her holding hands with your best friend.
Destiny? I do not believe In destiny, but free will – that’s more of my stuff. You may have been born under certain circumstances like poverty or sheer lack of good looks, talent or personality, but the choice to stay that way will always be yours. Act now or rot In despair. The greater dilemma Is people being resigned to a certain fate. Once people become conscious of the difficulties of overcoming obstacles, they often reach a point at which they cease trying to achieve their goals.
Just because the odds are stacked against you, doesn’t mean you should quit. Some people who have a problem with weight control use their low metabolism as an excuse to eat themselves Into the Guinness Book of World Records on the heaviest. Before my time for this monologue Is up, I want to leave you with these words: “Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice. Not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. ” Do not ever let anybody tell you otherwise. You’re fate will always be your own creation.
