Damon Salvatore the mean, bad, and sarcastic vampire is nothing like the real Ian Smallholder. Ian Smallholder Is an amazing actor who has made it a long way from a cute boy from a small town in Louisiana. Ian Smallholder was born on December 8, 1978.
He was born and raised in a small southern town named Coving, Louisiana. Like any other family, both his parents had Jobs and he had a good life. His mom was a massage therapist and his dad was building contractor. HIS mom named Edna and his dad named Robert. He has a brother named Robert who is older and a sister named Robin who is younger. Ian grew up loving to boat. Swim. Fish, and train horses. He was always up and moving. He went to school at SST. Pall’s, a private Catholic school in Coving. He was always Interested In the school acting programs and performed with the local theater group.
As Ian grew older he decided it was time to start career. Ian started modeling at the age of 10 when his mom encouraged him to pursue it. He traveled to New York every summer to model. He modeled for big brands such as Versa, Gucci, Dolce & Cabana, Guess and Calvin Klein. In middle school, Ian decided to stop modeling and to start working on school and his sports. He cared more about his school work and sports then he did about his modeling career. A couple years later, he got an amazing opportunity to go to Europe and model. He started traveling and studying all around Europe to places such as Paris, Milan, and London.
He still models now, but he Is more Into his acting career. He decided It was time to come home and start his acting journey. At the age of 17, Ian went to New York to start studying acting. By the time he was 19, he was fully invested in it. He worked with an acting coach named William Super. HIS career was for sure going to be acting when he got the role of an extra In the movie “Black and White” in 1999. A talent manager coming to the set to visit a client spotted Ian out of 400 people. He knew that this kid was going to take his career to the next level one day.
He automatically signed him for representation. In the summer of 2000, Ian landed the role in a short TV series called Young Americans, a spin-off of Dawson Creek. He played Hamilton Fleming, the son of the dean of a prestigious boarding school. In 2002, he played a bisexual character named Paul Denton In Roger Aviary adaptation of Bret Gaston Ellis’ novel, The Rules of Attraction, with James Van Deer Seek, Shannon Samson, and Jessica Bible. After this his career started to pick up as he got bigger acting jobs. In 2004, Ian landed a role in the hit TV show Lost.
This job was his breakthrough role. He played Boone Carlyle. Even though, his character was killed In the twentieth episode of the first season he came back. He later returned to Lost for seven more 1 OFF of the first main actors to be cast and the first major character to die. He had a couple other acting Jobs along the way, in 2009 is when his career really became his whole life. In 2010, he was involved in the cleanup after the Departed Horizon oil drilling disaster on April 22. He cleaned up but he also taped a public service announcement o let the people know how they could help.
He also supports different animal shelters like SST. Tammany Humane Society. On November 13, 2010 he hosted a party on the Bayou charity fundraiser for the Society. During the party, he received a donation of $11,100 by The Vampire Diaries fantod for his birthday. Him and his Vampire Diaries co-stars Candace Cola and Michael Terrine support the It Gets Better Project. The Project has a goal to prevent suicide among LIGHT teens and kids with The Tremor Project. Ian then announced using Twitter and a bunch of interviews hat he was starting a foundation under his name called The Ian Smallholder Foundation.
He announced this on his 32nd birthday, December 8, 2010. He hopes that people get a better understanding on protecting the environment and animals. Ian said “Instead of gifts this year, my birthday wish is that we come together and raise funds to support projects that protect our habitat and nurture our furry friends. ” His foundation is still running today and collecting a ton of money. He goes around the world helping animals and the environment out. In 2009, Ian started his role on The Vampire Diaries. Nan’s role on the show is Damon, the bad vampire of the two brothers.
He has been a vampire on the show the whole time it’s been on air. Ian recently became a vampire that only feeds on vampires. He is really dangerous and he is trying to stay away from the one he loves Elena. In real life Ian and co-star Nina Dover dated but they ended their relationship. They then continued their relationship on the show. Now they are broken up in the show and in real life. Ian and his co-star Paul Wesley are doing a Vampire Diaries convention all around the US. They are even coming to Chicago on April 6. Ian loves playing his role. He is a sarcastic yet hilarious character on the show.
Ian also happens to be from the town Coving, Louisiana which is also the name of the town where the show is filmed only in Georgia. Ian has won many awards over the past years for his hard work. Although he has won many awards, he was also nominated for others. In 2002, Ian won an award for the newest male face to keep your eye on. Ian has been nominated for Cast to Watch, Choice Villain, Male Hattie, Choice TV Actor Fantasy/Sic-If, Choice Vampire, and many more all Just for The Vampire Diaries. He even won two awards at The People Choice Awards this year.
One for Best on Screen Chemistry with Nina Dover, and one for Favorite Sic-If Fantasy Actor. All Nan’s hard work has really paid off for him. Ian has been working really hard to achieve all his dreams throughout his life. From a model to an actor to a philanthropist, Ian has really reached his goals. Ian cares for not only himself and his co-stars but animals and the world. He cares for other people. Ian has changed many peoples lives for the better with his actions and amazing acting.
